Ken and Deanna were driving to Scotland, and on an apparent particularly dangerous part of the road on A64 in York, my folks were hit. Nobody else was seriously injured, and my dad was the only person taken to the hospital. Ken suffered a clavicle, hip, and multiple rib fractures. He was taken to York Hospital and is currently being held in the ICU. He suffered a collapsed lung and is currently on a breathing machine and tube feeding.
As far as I know, this is all of the information we have on my dad up to this point.
I hadn't heard they had to cut him out. Hoping he has a speedy recovery, he's a tough guy.
